How to access Audio Description

In general, Audio Description (AD) can be switched on or off by pressing the AD button on a TV Remote Control. However some TVs have a different label on the remote button, and others require AD to be switched on or off via the menu. The examples below give specific detail for a range of TV and Set Top Box manufacturers. In general, AD is not available on IT based TV delivery.

  • TV Receivers

    Panasonic FS Model (2018)

    1. 01

      For first time set-up, press the 'Menu' button

    2. 02

      Select Sound > Audio Description then press OK to access

    3. 03

      Select Audio Description then press OK to access

    4. 04

      Set ON or OFF then press OK to store

    5. 05

      For future use, press the 'AD' button to turn on and off

    Panasonic TX Models

      First Time Setup:

      Press the Menu Button

      Select or navigate the menu Sound or Sound Mode > Broadcast Option> Audio Language

    4. 04

      Select English AD

    Samsung

      Press home button

      Navigate the menu via Settings > General > Accessibility > Audio Description Settings

    3. 03

      Toggling Audio Description changes between AD On and AD Off

    4. 04

      Toggling Audio Description Volume adjusts the audio description volume

      From a Standard Remote Press AD button

      Select Audio Description to turn AD on

      Select Normal to turn AD off

      Other options are Spoken Subtitle and Hard of hearing
