How to access captions

In general, TV remote controls have a dedicated button to switch on captions, commonly labelled as STTL, SUBT, SUBT/CC or Subtitle. Menu Setup Options in some TVs can further allow users to change the font, colour, language and other caption related settings. The table below is a cross-section of TV makes and models with specific instructions. If this guide fails to cover your TV or device, we recommend searching the internet for a user manual.

      When Programs are captioned, a CC symbol at the bottom of screen is shown. Mouse click on this symbol

      On the pop up menu, select English to display captions or Captions off to switch them off

    TVNZ+ on iOS devices

      Hover the mouse pointer over or touch the video window. The control bar will appear at the bottom of the screen

      Tap on the Chromecast control bar at the bottom of the screen to expand the controls

      Tap on the CC button on the bottom left hand corner of the screen

      While the show is playing swipe down to reveal the info menu

      Swipe right to highlight Subtitles and click to select

    3. 03

      Swipe right to select English

      Swipe Up to dismiss the menu

    Android mobile

      Open your device’s Settings app

      Tap Accessibility, then tap Captions

    3. 03

      At the top, tap the On/Off switch
