As announced on 11th July, Able is pleased to be offering increased captioning of political and current affairs programming. The increased schedule kicked off this week with captions on TV3’s flagship current affairs programme, 3rd Degree, on Wednesday evening at 8.30pm.
On Sundays, the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community will now have greater access to political programming, with Q+A and the repeat of The Nation being captioned.
Q+A will be captioned live, with the Able team using respeaking technology. The repeat of Q+A that plays late Sunday evening or early Monday morning (it’s on at 11.55pm this week) will also have captions.
In addition to this, the repeat of TV3’s political programme, The Nation, will be broadcast with captions at 10.00am Sunday mornings. Following this, a repeat of 3rd Degree will also play with captions.
Through Q+A and The Nation, the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community will now have greater access to in-depth analysis of the important issues affecting New Zealand and interviews with the political movers and shakers.
