You may not know that Able provides captions for some NZ On Screen content. Some of their newly digitised work includes Winners & Losers, which we’re particularly honoured to have been involved in.
When Winners & Losers first aired in 1976, it 'heralded a new age in Kiwi screen drama'. Created by Ian Mune and Roger Donaldson, the collection dramatised seven New Zealand stories, including Katherine Mansfield’s The Woman at the Store and Witi Ihimaera’s Big Brother, Little Sister. Since being digitised, the Winners & Losers collection has become accessible to all for the first time since original broadcast, and we’re proud that our captions make it even more accessible.
We agree with Minister Clare Curran, who declared in a recent speech, 'A number of our iconic people and defining moments of our screen industry are presented in Winners & Losers - alongside information that helpfully places the content within the context and timeline of the industry’s history.'
